Debut of Honda FCEV in Los Angeles

Honda presents the FCEV Concept. This is a study model of Honda's second-generation fuel cell vehicle. The FCEV is the successor to the Honda FCX Clarity that has long been used. For various testing purposes Honda expects the FCEV in 2015 to market. That happens only in the USA and Japan. Europe will follow.

The Honda FCEV Concept is the first car with fuel cell technology, which adjusts the drive train under the hood. The so-called Fuel Cell stack is 33 percent smaller than that of the FCX Clarity. The new FCEV also offers more space for passengers. Moreover, it is easier to mount the motor in existing fuel cell designs that do not need to be, without major adaptation.

Despite the compact size of the Fuel Cell stack, power density is the 60 per cent increase relative to that in the FCX Clarity. According to Honda, the FCEV Concept has a range of over 300 miles (480 km). The hydrogen tanks also can be filled more quickly. Tanks FCEV in approximately three minutes filled at a pressure of 70 MPa.
